Escaped snake-updated

We found out yesterday evening that one of our snakes has escaped from its aquarium!! Actually, both got out but Kathryn found one right next to its house and put it back. But one is still missing! Fortunately, it is a corn snake and can't hurt us but it is a little creepy!!! Of course, my room is the closest to where its house was. Hope he doesn't decide to come snuggle up with me! Yeah! Found the snake this morning. It was curled up in the bottom of the guest room shower. Gave Chuck a little bit of a surprise when he opened the shower curtain this morning. Better him than me!! :) The snake is now safely back in his home. Whew! .

For Steve...

Here is a photo of the big front field, mowed, looking like a giant lawn. The little patches you see still out there are milkweed plants that I left for the Monarch butterflies. .

Easter egg hunt

Image
Here is a photo from our Easter egg hunt, hot dog cookout and water balloon fight on the Saturday before Easter. I mowed a line around about an acre and a half of the front field that was full of wild flowers and grasses. We had about 250 cascarones and about 500 plastic eggs. I think the big kids (High Schoolers!) were more into it than the little kids. Then we had hotdogs and chips and cake and cookies. Then the kids had a huge water balloon fight!! Kathryn, Erin and Travis (with some tying help from me) worked almost 2 hours filling water balloons - close to 1,000!! The fight was the big kids vs. the little kids. The little kids won big time!! Lots of fun!! .

Another great shop hop!

My friend, Reidun, Erin and I visited all 12 quilt stores on the Blue Bonnet Shop Hop. Reidun's first year. :) Lots of great quilts and inspration! We also visited a fabulous native plant nursery in Medina. Absolutely beautiful!!!! Everything was in bloom and a little bluebird came out of its nest to show off for us. Loved it!! Thanks Ernesto! Here is the link to the Bluebonnet Shop Hop site if you would like more info. .

Chickens and yogurt

Image
Did you know that chickens like yogurt? I was reading about "chicken snacks" on some site (yes, really) and read that they like yogurt. So, we tried it. I think this is Greek yogurt with strawberries. They were a little hesitant to try it at first (I think it was the container that worried them) but loved it once they did. Check out the yogurt on the chicken's beak!! .

Erin ready for Girl Scout World Thinking Day

Image
Here is Erin ready for Girl Scout World Thinking Day. Her troop's country was Nigeria. One of our mom's does work with an orphanage there and travels there several times a year. She had these beautiful native outfits made for all the girls when she was there earlier in the year. Lovely. Kathryn braided her hair. .

Sorry!

Sorry for the long break between posts! I do not know where the days have gone. Will try to do much, much better. xoxo .
