Memorial Day

Hope everyone is having a relaxing day. We went to the little cemetery here this morning (early!) and helped put flags on the graves of the veterans buried there. It was amazing.

We had an old section of the cemetery placed flags on the graves of Texas Rangers, veterans from the Mexican American War, Civil War veterans - North and South, and of course some from all the the conflicts of the 20th century - WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam...

It was a history lesson and very humbling.

Yesterday evening, our Scouts went to Morningside (a retirement home) for a flag ceremony and patriotic service in honor of Veteran's Day. Here are some photos from this past Memorial Day when we joined all the Scouts in the region to place a US flag on every grave at the cemetery at Fort Sam. Over 100,000. Beautiful and sobering. .

Black Friday

Well, it's not Black Friday here. More like Bum Friday as it is 10:00 and we are all still in our pj's! We will have to get dressed soon though, as we are headed over to the Pipe Creek Christmas Tree Farm in a little while to get a Christmas tree. Will post pictures later today... .
